Benyamin Farnam
Benyamin Farnam is an Iranian–Norwegian photojournalist, writer, and poet whose work centers on human rights, queer communities, religious minorities, and other marginalized groups. Working across documentary film, investigative reporting, and visual storytelling, he focuses on individuals and communities whose voices are often excluded from dominant narratives. His projects examine themes such as exile, identity, discrimination, and resistance, with a clear commitment to visibility, dignity, and social justice.
In Norway, Farnam has continued his cultural and human rights engagement. He was a City of Refuge writer in Oslo (2018–2020), has published articles on gender and sexuality, and has led several queer organizations. He serves on Oslo’s Gender and Sexuality Diversity Committee and is a member of the Norwegian Writers’ Center, the ICORN network, and PEN Norway.
His professional interests include critical documentary practice, socially engaged photojournalism, and long-term visual projects that combine strong narrative structure with political awareness. He is particularly drawn to stories that challenge power structures, question dominant discourses, and contribute meaningfully to public debate.
